Specifications: The Sony DCR-SR47 Camcorder comes with the standard Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens, capable of 60x optical zoom and 2000x digital zoom. It has a built-in 60GB hard drive that removes the need for DVD discs. The display screen is a 2.7-inch wide touch screen (123,000 pixels) for preview or playing back movies. Included with the package are a camera charger (AC-L200), rechargeable battery (NP-FH40), A/V Cable and a USB cable.

Design: It has a portable and compact design, measuring at 7.6 x 6 x 4.7 inches and weighing around 2.6 pounds. The Sony DCR-SR47 replaces DVD burning with a built-in hard drive, enabling it to be smaller but still as powerful. It includes a USB 2.0 interface, which provides an easy way to connect your camcorder to a compatible PC for fast transfer of videos and still images for editing. It comes in a variety of colors, namely silver, red and blue.

Features & Performance: The quality of the videos recorded by the Sony DCR-SR47 is superb due to the Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens and SteadyShot image stabilization. At the highest quality, it can record up to 15 hours of videos. The battery life on this unit was also quite impressive. So far, I have managed to use it for about 60 minutes of continuous shooting. Sony claims that the battery can last up to 90 minutes of continuous shooting (depending of usage). The quality of the videos was very good. The colors were accurate and the noise-levels were low. All in all, the Sony DCR-SR47 camcorder is the perfect model for those who are not too excited over HD videos. It is cheaper than HD camcorders and standard definition videos are much easier to play, not to mention you get to record much more of it on the 60GB hard drive.
